The Reliable Word of God
How reliable is God’s word? Does it have power over events involving things? What about men? The passage today touches on how God’s word sets the course of events on men.
Commentary:
God’s word is the truth. When God speaks a word, the word would become reality. In the beginning, God spoke, and the heaven and earth were formed. In this passage, Solomon recalled the word of God. God promised that Solomon would succeed his father to be the king of Israel and that he would build a house for God. These were accomplished as told by the word of God.
God’s word always comes true. The appearance of the cloud in the last chapter signified the presence of the Lord. The glory of God dwelled in Jerusalem until shortly before the exile. Although the world could never contain its creator, but God was willing to dwell among His people. This mystery was great and was a type for Jesus. Jesus was God, but He lived in the world among His people to save His people.
Meditation:
From this passage, we realize that God’s word can determine what men would do and would achieve in life. Knowing that, we should always seek out the will of God in our life. The will of God is in His Word, which is the Bible. When we do not follow His will, we will feel powerless and lose our direction in life. When we do, God presence will be with us.
Prayer:
Pray that we do His will continually.
Memory Verse: John 7:17 “If anyone is willing to do His will, he will know of the teaching, whether it is of God or whether I speak from Myself.
